Director of Finance - Full time

Philadelphia, PA

Company Description

We're a growing team looking to revolutionize the way organizations share and consume knowledge. We're looking for an experienced, full-time Director of FInance to support our rapid growth. After publicly launching in September 2015 with a product that has recognized tremendous sales velocity and exceptional retention rates, we find ourselves in need of a numbers specialist to directly support our financial reporting, payroll and billing functions.

We have a supportive and growing customer base, which requires us to expand and grow our team. We’re looking for an experienced financial leader that has deep understanding and ability to support a SaaS-based business.

  • Manage and maintain all of Guru’s accounting and financial reporting needs, to include, yet not limited to month-end and quarterly financial reports and statements for management, our investors and the board
  • Develop quarterly, annual, and LT financial plans and forecasts
  • Develop and track key operating and financial metrics, especially around a SaaS revenue model
  • Analyze costs, pricing, variable contributions, sales results, and the company’s actual performance compared to plans and recommend strategies to keep the business on plan
  • Own all contract management, invoicing, and collection operations and correlating systems to support these operations
  • Oversee operations of the finance department, set goals and objectives, and design a framework for best practice execution consistent with Guru’s operating goals
  • Maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures (in Guru of course)
  • Develop and manage monthly budgets with department heads. Report to management on variances from the established budget, and the reasons for those variances
  • Coordinate with outside supporting contractors, auditors, bankers and shareholders as needed
  • Oversee the company’s equity plan, including vesting schedules and compensation guidelines for each department
  • Oversee core HR, tax, and healthcare benefits, plus other responsibilities, working with our contracted service providers when necessary
  • Remit payment for all invoices, as well as processing all payments in a timely manner
  • Reconcile customer conversions/transactions to accurately reflect company key metrics such as monthly recurring revenue (MRR) and customer churn
  • Process company payroll, commissions, expense reports, as well as maintaining support for our online medical benefits broker
  • Manage all hiring & onboarding requirements and related equipment, systems & supplies
  • Prepare the required quarterly shareholder reports to appropriately represent company performance

Benefits to you

  • Necessary setup to be successful
  • Optional medical/healthcare benefits via Guru's preferred broker
  • Meaningful equity (in-line with your experience)
  • Delicious, home-brewed beer on tap (including, but not limited to our famous API-IPA, devHops, and null porter exception brews)
  • Flexible vacation policy
  • Contribute to an energetic, fully engaged culture
  • Be a part of a winning team, failure is not an option
